U.S. Senate Democratic Candidate Amy McGrath made biscuits Wednesday, October 7 with Chef Sara Bradley owner of the Freight House in Paducah. The special event was live on Instagram at the restaurant.

McGrath said, "We're going to be making biscuits today with amazing chef Sara. We'll be talking about what the restaurant industry needs." Bradley gave a brief description of the restaurant location. Then, McGrath continued. "I've never done this before so tell me what we're going to do."

Chef Bradley said, "I've made about a million biscuits in my lifetime. This is a recipe I learned when I was down in Alabama. An older lady taught me this recipe and it's an interesting technique where you use a church fold."

The plan was to bake while discussing politics, McGrath's plan to help the restaurant and arts industries, plus discuss what it's like being a woman in a male dominated profession. McGrath is a former Marine fighter pilot and was the first woman to perform a combat mission for the Marine Corps, as well as the first to pilot the F/A-18 on a combat mission.

Bradley was a Top Chef contestant and grabbed a spot in the finale in Lexington last year on Season 16 drawing a lot of attention to Kentucky. The Freight House is a unique southern style restaurant and bourbon bar. It's been open for five years and is located at the Paducah riverfront.

McGrath opened a staff office in downtown Paducah only weeks ago. It's nestled in the corner of Market St. and Broadway. The Freight House is a mere two blocks away. As the general election nears, candidates are spending their last few weeks hitting the campaign trail and from the looks of things, enjoying every minute of it.
